…The beautiful, unique landscapes of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis amaze me every time. Despite the enormous boom in recent years, nature has been treated with great respect. When hiking in the mountains of Fiss, it is a real pleasure for me to stop for a moment and look at and enjoy the nature around me. The weather of the village Fiss, on 1.436 metres above sea level in a moderate climate zone, is influenced by the North Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the European continent. This is why in Tyrol there is more rain in summer, almost no rain in autumn and much snow in winter. The region Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in the Tyrolean uplands is an area with rather low precipitation.
On the South side of the Schönjoch, the landscape of Fiss is characterized by spruce and larch woods. The North side is characterized by the Swiss pine, a conifer with special features. The tree line is between 1.900 and 2.100 metres. Below the tree line there are lush green meadows. Above the tree line nature is a bit more rough and stonier. This is where the marmots live, sometimes one can hear their whistling sound in summer. Marmots hibernate.
The highest mountain of the region Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is the Furgler, with a height of about 3.000 metres. The Schönjoch lies at 2.436 meters and the Zwölferkopf with the viewing platform Z1 lies at 2.596 metres. From this viewing platform you can see the mountains of four countries, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. From the Ortler to the Zugspitze.
