Wetter in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Blendend viel Sonne. Thermometer. Weather / Weer.

The weather in Tyrol is influenced by the North Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea as well as the European continent. There are two climate zones in Austria. In the Alps, Tyrol, there is an alpine climate while in the lower areas there is a transition climate.

The average temperature in Tyrol is lower than in Germany or the Netherlands, for example. In the Alps, the average temperature is lower than in eastern Austria. The temperature in Tyrol drops by approximately half a degree per hundred meters of elevation, with the slope’s orientation playing a significant role.

The difference between north- and south-facing slopes can be quite significant. This is particularly evident in spring (late March and April). At this time, the snow on the south-facing slopes is already beginning to soften, while the north-facing slopes are still powdery.

This is due to a limited exposure of sunshine. This reduced sunshine, however, is also the reason why North oriented slopes are longer exposed to avalanches. Through sun exposure, the snow is compressed and thereby the structure is safer.

This results in approximately 2,000 hours of sunshine per year in Fiss.
The weather in Fiss is thus among the best in Austria.
